With the advancements made in dentistry, the tooth extraction procedure is most often painless with a mild recovery period. While there are a variety of reasons that Dr. Vanover could recommend an extraction, the primary cause is that the tooth has been diagnosed as unsalvageable or as hurtful to the surrounding teeth.
Making your visit a positive experience is our goal. With that in mind, the Doctor will numb the area surrounding the tooth prior to extraction. This will dispel any discomfort and will last for a few hours following the procedure.
It is important that following an extraction, you follow the instructions given to you at that appointment on caring for your mouth.
Dr Vanover will sometimes refer you to one of several excellent local Oral Surgeons for extractions if you require IV Sedation, have a complex medical situaiton, or it would generally be safer for you to be in an oral surgeons office for the specific procedure required. |
